SUMMARY:Jupyter Notebooks and User-Friendly HPC Access
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\nDiversity, Education, Workshop Reg Pass\n\nJupyter N
 otebooks and User-Friendly HPC Access\n\nGlick, Mache\n\nHigh performance
computing systems can be hard to use, and can require advanced knowledge o
f the command line, resource managers, and other details that scientists w
ithout a systems administration background may find distracting. In this p
roject, we describe our extensible gateway of tools which has allowed stud
ents and researchers with minimal HPC backgrounds to use our system with v
irtually no training. Performance measurements show that our gateway incur
s marginal overhead. With only a small performance cost, the gateway provi
des an easily accessible HPC environment. This environment is specially ta
ilored for education. We provide a means for teachers to easily provide st
udents access to information and assignments, and give students their own
personal HPC sandbox, including access to a fully-functional, personalized
  Jupyter Notebook server.
